This time of year is full of magic for me. It is a time of year that we share smiles on the street and want to show our love for our loved ones. The way I like to show my love and appreciation for my loved ones is with gifts that are homemade and almost always edible. These Easy Chocolate Bark Bars are such a simple gift to make and really don’t take much time either. But the result is fantastic, completely delicious and greatly appreciated.
It really couldn’t be simpler to make these simply line a baking tray with reusable parchment, pour in melted chocolate then top with designs of your own choosing. One really fun way of using these easy chocolate bark bars is as place names for your festive table. You could melt white chocolate and pipe names on the bars.
This is one of those gifts that are children will really enjoy making. I find that anything that you can make and see the results instantly are perfect for cooking with kids. You can set out a tray per child and let them go wild with the toppings. Such fantastic presents to give with a personal touch. This time of year is perfect to get the family together making presents. It could become a tradition that brings the magic of Christmas to your family.
I like to make them into bars as I like designing scenes on the top. Using different toppings to add not only texture but flavour. The pretzels will add salt for example or candy canes bring mint. Each bar can have its own personality that can be tailored to each recipient. If you wished you could easily make this into bark shards. Simply put all your topping on and allow to harden then smash up into pieces. This is great fun and another way to enjoy chocolate. Although there is no wrong way to enjoy chocolate.
Other gifts that you can make to celebrate the season are:
Three Ingredient Fudge
Rocky Road Christmas Pudding
Brown Sugar Shortbread
Mince Pie Baklava
Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Easy Chocolate Bark Bars
Ingredients
- 350 grams Milk Chocolate
Toppings of Choice
- Candy Canes, Pretzels, Breadsticks, Sprinkles, Chocolate Chips (Whatever you wish)
Any Flavourings You Want
- Salt, Orange Zest, Peppermint, Chilli (If you like)
Instructions
- LIne a baking tray with reuseable baking parchment.(Leaving a bit of over hang or a tab that you can use to lift out the bars)
- Break up your chocolate and place in a heat safe bowl. Now melt. You can do this in the microwave for blasts of 30 seconds stirring inbetween each.Or you can place over a small saucepan of simmering water making sure the water does not touch the bottom of the bowl stirring to melt.If you wanted to add flavourings to the chocolate now is that time. I like having milk chocolate and having the toppings add different flavours.
- Pour the molten chocolate into the lined baking tray and spread to cover. You want to give it a good few bangs on the work top to get rid of the air bubbles that will have formed during spreading.
- I use breadsticks to seperate the sheet into three individual bars. This makes portioning easier and decorating simpler. You can also change the flavours of each bar with the toppings. Now have fun and use the toppings as you wish. I think simple graphic designs are super effective. Make sure you press each decorative item into the chocolate to make sure it sticks in.
- Once you are happy with the designs then allow to chill down and stash in the fridge to completely harden.Once completely hard you can unmold and give to your loved ones or enjoy it yourself. If you wish to cut it you can cut into bars.
