‘What should I eat?’

My name is Rory and my favourite place is the Kitchen.
Cooking and baking have, for a long time, been a way to find calmness and peace. I believe that cooking is as much an expression of self as what you wear or music you listen to. In other words you can tell a lot about a person by what they cook.

I am a Choreographer and Teacher. Having worked on stage for 10 years, in London, touring the UK and cruising around the world, I made the switch to the creative side. The pleasure of seeing my choreography on stage is a feeling that will never get old.

I left home at 19 and my love affair with the kitchen began. I had always enjoyed eating and food but I could now experiment and create myself. Consequently I have a brain and notebooks full of recipes.
In this blog I share recipes that I have created that work, taste good and are accessible. There are different sections to my blog to help you find what to eat. My aim is to give anyone the confidence to get in the kitchen and express themselves.

I also share my adventures in food, if I am traveling I am always looking for food to try and share.

I believe that cooking is more than just following recipes religiously it is tweaking things to your own taste expressing yourself on the plate. Every one of my recipes has helpful tips scattered throughout. At the end of each one you will find a Leftovers Tip. Whilst it is presumptuous of me to assume you will have leftovers, I find that it is handy to have an idea of how to create a new dish from extra food. Often I am cooking for 2, my wife and I, and very occasionally our dog, and so will make enough to make sure I have leftovers to tuck into the freezer for a day when cooking seems beyond me. Some of these leftover recipe tips have become recipes I cook more often than the original. I hope you find them useful. Above all, this helps reduce food waste, something that helps with the wellbeing of both the planet and your wallet.

Certainly, my aim is to instil in you a confidence to find your own voice in the kitchen. Therefore, I will be with you every step of the way talking you through each stage. Perhaps you have just moved out on your own and need some helpful tips for meals you can easily prepare. Maybe you have a busy schedule and need meals that allow you to freeze some for next week. Or maybe you want a cake for that special occasion take a look at my desserts and baking section full of sweet treats when you need a pit stop with a cuppa.
